Are you saved? How do
I get saved? What does it mean when someone asks you "Are you
saved?"
The term "saved" is a shortened way of saying "saved from the
penalty (wages) of sin. The penalty (wages) of sin is spiritual
death - which is separation eternally (for ever) from God the
Father and Jesus Christ the Son.. To be saved means being forgiven
(saved) from sin and consequently spending eternity (for ever) in
the presence of God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son.
Being "saved" and being a "Christian" and having "salvation" and
being a "believer" are all the same thing, when you are "saved"
you have made a confession of belief in God the Father and Jesus
Christ the Son and also in the Holy Spirit. Being a believer in
Jesus Christ and living your life in a "Christ" like way is what
is meant when the term "Christian" is used.
You may have arrived at this page because you are curious about
what it is to be "saved" or to be a "Christian". You may have
arrived at this page because you are either a "believer" or are a
person who goes to Church but you are not sure if you are "saved".
You are not alone, there are many Church goer's who are uncertain
about their "salvation" either because they don't know what steps
the Bible says you have to take to be "saved" or because of the
way you feel - perhaps you feel you are too sinful or too unworthy
to be saved.
The page "How To Be Saved" tells you very simply from scripture
the 4 steps you must take to be "saved". Only the first step is
missed here - and that is that you must first either read or hear
the scriptures. How can you believe in what you have not yet heard
about? To confess means speaking out loud with your mouth in the
presence of someone else who can hear that confession. It may not
always be possible to speak your confession out to someone else at
first so do it first in private if need be and then at some later
time speak it out to one or more other people who are believers.
Often in a church situation, new believers are asked to repeat a
prayer of confession out loud in the hearing of all others present
and that fulfills the instruction in scripture to "confess".
To "repent" means to make a change of direction, to make a change
of behaviours, to make a change of mind, to stop doing and acting
in ways that you may know are not pleasing to God and to from that
point in time onwards to determine to do what is pleasing to God
and to learn more and more how to live your life in a way that is
pleasing to God.
To be "baptised" means to be fully bodily immersed under water in
the manner prescribed in the scriptures - in the name of God the
Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Go to the page "How To Be Saved" to see the simple steps to be
"saved". If you have already done this, you are "saved", read some
of the other information here for further direction.
